【菊池市】菊池神社

菊池神社の主祭神は第12代の菊池武時公、第13代の武重公、第15代の武光公であり、第16代の武政以下26柱が配祀されています。

菊池神社は慶応4年（1868年）、皇室に忠義を尽くしてきた菊池一族を称えるため、明治天皇が熊本藩に菊池氏を顕賞し、祭祀を行うよう命じました。

この命により、明治3年（1870年）に菊池城本丸址に社殿が造営され、同年の4月28日に鎮座しました。

そして、明治11年には別格官幣社に列せられました。

菊池神社の周囲は桜やつつじの名所であり、桜の花が咲く頃には多くの行楽客で賑わいます。

【Kikuchi City】Kikuchi Shrine

The main deities of Kikuchi Shrine are Kikutake Toki, the 12th generation; Kikutake Shige, the 13th generation; and Kikutake Mitsu, the 15th generation, along with 26 other deities including the 16th generation, Kikutake Masanori.

Kikuchi Shrine was established in the 4th year of the Keio era (1868) to honor the Kikuchi clan, which had been loyal to the imperial family.

Emperor Meiji ordered the Kumamoto domain to recognize the Kikuchi clan and conduct rituals.

As a result, in the 3rd year of the Meiji era (1870), a shrine building was constructed on the site of Kikuchi Castle, and it was consecrated on April 28 of the same year.

In the 11th year of the Meiji era, it was designated as a special kanpei shrine.

The area surrounding Kikuchi Shrine is famous for cherry blossoms and azaleas, attracting many visitors during the cherry blossom season.
