通潤橋 放水シーズン到来！

熊本県山都町にある「通潤橋」は、日本で唯一“放水”できる石造りのアーチ橋です。
約160年前に建設され、今もなお白糸大地の棚田を潤す現役の農業用水路橋として活躍しています。

放水は、全長約124mの通水管に溜まった土砂やゴミを排出するために行われる、通潤橋ならではの機能。
水しぶきを上げるダイナミックな光景と、橋に込められた匠の技と知恵をぜひ間近でお楽しみください。

放水スケジュール

• 実施期間：上記休止期間を除く日程
• 時間：毎日13:00から約15分間

放水休止期間

• 5月〜7月中旬：農地かんがいのため
• 12月〜3月：石材の凍結防止のため

【Yamato Town】Tsūjun Bridge Water Release

Water Release Season at Tsūjun Bridge Has Arrived!

Tsūjun Bridge, located in Yamato Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, is Japan’s only stone arch bridge capable of performing a water discharge.

Built approximately 160 years ago, the bridge still functions today as an active irrigation aqueduct, supplying water to the terraced rice fields of the Shiraito Plateau.

The water discharge is a unique feature of Tsūjun Bridge, designed to flush out sediment and debris that accumulates in the approximately 124-meter-long water conduit.

Don’t miss the dynamic spectacle of water spraying high into the air, and experience the craftsmanship and wisdom embedded in this historic structure up close.

💧 Water Discharge Schedule

• Period: Available on most days, except during scheduled suspension periods
• Time: Daily at 1:00 PM, lasting for about 15 minutes

🚫 Suspension Periods

• May to mid-July: Suspended for agricultural irrigation
• December to March: Suspended to prevent the stone from freezing
