【天草市】日本とヨーロッパの架け橋～黄金の国（ジパング）の少年たち～

約440年前、4人の少年たちが日本を出発し、1585年にローマ教皇に謁見した歴史的な旅路「天正遣欧使節」をたどる企画展を開催します。

本展では、彼らの足跡やヨーロッパに与えた影響、そして当時の日本がどのように西洋に紹介されたかを、西洋の書物や写真パネル、貴重な記念メダル（メダイ）を通じて紹介します。

特に、グレゴリオ13世やシクスト5世との謁見を記念したメダルは必見です。

【Amakusa City】A Bridge Between Japan and Europe – The Boys from the Golden Country (Zipangu)

About 440 years ago, four young boys set out from Japan and, in 1585, had an audience with the Pope in Rome.
We are holding a special exhibition tracing the historic journey of the “Tenshō Embassy to Europe.”

This exhibition introduces their footsteps, the impact they had on Europe, and how Japan was presented to the West at that time through Western books, photo panels, and valuable commemorative medals (medailles).

Especially noteworthy are the medals commemorating their audience with Pope Gregory XIII and Pope Sixtus V.

大约440年前，四名少年从日本出发，于1585年拜见了罗马教皇。
我们将举办一场特别展览，追寻“天正遣欧使节”的历史旅程。

展览通过西方书籍、照片展板以及珍贵的纪念奖章（medailles），介绍他们的足迹、对欧洲的影响，以及当时日本如何被介绍给西方。

特别值得一提的是纪念他们会见教皇格里高利十三世和教皇西斯图五世的奖章。
