【玉名市】よみがえる同田貫-豪刀の誕生とその再興-

「同田貫（どうだぬき）」は、戦国時代末期に肥後菊池氏のもとで活躍した「延寿（えんじゅ）」の流派に属する刀工集団です。

初代正國（まさくに）は加藤清正に仕官し、その頑強で重厚な刀作りで名を馳せ、後に「兜割正國」という異名を持つようになります。

江戸時代の平和な時代が訪れると同派は衰退しますが、9代目政勝（まさかつ）とその子宗廣（むねひろ）の努力により、新々刀期の代表的な刀工として復活しました。

本展では、正國による同田貫の創始から、政勝・宗廣らによる再興とその終焉、そしてドラマやゲームなどで今なお注目される同田貫の歴史を、その作刀や刀工に伝わる古文書を通じて振り返ります。

※「正勝」とも表記されますが、文化3年の宣旨などに「藤原政勝」と記されているため、本展では「政勝」に統一しています。

【Tamana City】The Revival of Doudanuki: The Birth of a Great Sword and Its Restoration

“Doudanuki” is a group of swordsmiths that originated in the late Sengoku period as part of the “Enju” school, active under the Higo-Kikuchi clan.

The first generation, Masakuni, worked under Kato Kiyomasa and gained fame for his robust and powerful swordmaking, earning the nickname “Kabuto-wari Masakuni.”

As the Edo period ushered in an era of peace, the school began to decline.

However, thanks to the efforts of the 9th generation Masakatsu and his son Munehiro, the school revived as one of the prominent swordsmiths of the Shin-Shinto period.

This exhibition will explore the history of Doudanuki, from its beginnings with Masakuni, through the revival by Masakatsu and Munehiro, to its eventual decline, drawing on their swords and the ancient documents passed down by the swordsmiths.

(Note: “Masakatsu” is also used in some texts, but because “Fujiwara Masakatsu” appears in historical records, including one from Bunka 3, this exhibition will use “Masakatsu.”)

初代正国（まさくに）在加藤清正麾下工作，其刀具坚固且沉重，因其作品有“兜割正国”之名。

随着江户时代的来临，平和的社会使得该流派逐渐衰退，但在九代正胜（まさかつ）及其子宗广（むねひろ）等人的努力下，流派在新刀期的代表性刀匠中恢复了生气。

本展览将从正国创立同田贯的起源开始，讲述正胜和宗广如何复兴流派以及流派的衰落，并通过他们的刀具和刀匠家族传承下来的古文书回顾同田贯的历史。

（注：虽然有时写作“正胜”，但由于文化3年宣旨等史料中有“藤原正胜”的表记，因此本展览统一使用“政胜”。）
