毎年3月、卯の祭の期間中に行われる「田作祭」は、巳の日から亥の日までの7日間にわたる神聖な儀式です。

この祭りでは、社家の祖先神である国龍神（年祢神とも言われる）と妃神の結婚を祝う儀式が行われ、豊穣が約束されると伝えられています。

国龍神は神輿に乗り、7日間にわたり毎夜異なる社家宅に泊まり、朝晩には神事と神楽が執り行われます。

祭りの4日目、申の日には「御前迎え」と呼ばれる儀式が行われ、神職は早朝から宮山地区（阿蘇市赤水）へ向かい、樫の木で作られた妃神のご神体（神木）を迎えて阿蘇神社へと供奉します。

道中では嫁入り前の禊や化粧の儀も行われ、夕刻に阿蘇神社に到着します。

参道では住民たちが萱束に火を灯し、振り回して神を歓迎する火振り神事が行われ、その間に神婚の儀式が行われます。

そして、最終日の7日目には、結婚した夫婦神の前で豊作を祈る「田遊び（田作神事）」が行われ、神職が耕作過程を模擬的に演じます。

「田作祭」は五穀豊穣を願い、国龍神と妃神の結婚を祝う神聖な儀式として、幻想的で迫力満点の火振り神事が特色です。

妃神の御神体が到着すると、参列者たちは一斉に縄の先につけた茅束に火を灯し、夜空に向かって勢いよく振り回します。

その光景は無数の炎の輪が交差し、神殿を美しく彩ります。

【Aso City】Tatsukuri Festival: Fire-Waving Ceremony

“A Sacred and Fantastical Festival Heralding Spring in the Aso Region – The Tatsukuri Festival”

The Tatsukuri Festival, held every year in March during the “Usa-no-Matsuri” period, is a sacred event that spans seven days, from the day of the serpent (Mi-no-Hi) to the day of the boar (Ino-no-Hi).

This festival celebrates the marriage of the ancestral god of the shrine, Kunikoryu-no-Kami (also known as Toshin), and his consort, a union that promises a bountiful harvest.

Kunikoryu-no-Kami rides a portable shrine (mikoshi) and stays at different shrine households each night over the seven days, where sacred rituals and kagura (Shinto music and dance) are performed morning and evening.

On the fourth day, “Mi-no-Hi,” a special ceremony called “Gozen-mukae” (Welcoming the Consort) takes place.

Early in the morning, the priest travels about 10 kilometers to the Miyama area (Akamizu, Aso City), where a sacred tree representing the consort is received and brought to Aso Shrine. Along the way, the consort undergoes purification rites and cosmetic rituals before arriving at the shrine in the evening.

On the final seventh day, the festival culminates in “Tadayu,” a ceremonial reenactment of farming processes, where priests symbolically perform agricultural rituals in front of the newly-married divine couple, praying for a bountiful harvest.

The Tatsukuri Festival is a deeply sacred ritual celebrating the marriage of Kunikoryu-no-Kami and his consort, and it is accompanied by the dramatic and awe-inspiring “Hiburi Shinji” (Fire-Waving Ceremony).

When the sacred tree of the consort arrives, participants light the ends of reed bundles and energetically wave them toward the night sky, creating a breathtaking spectacle of intersecting circles of fire that illuminate the shrine in a vibrant glow.

As the fire-waving ceremony concludes, true spring arrives in Aso.

“预示春天到来的神圣而梦幻的祭典 —— 田作祭”

每年3月，在“卯祭”期间举行的“田作祭”是一个为期七天的神圣活动，从巳日到亥日。

此祭典庆祝社家祖先神国龙神（也称为年祢神）与妃神的婚礼，传说这场婚姻将带来丰收的祝福。

国龙神骑乘神轿，七天内每晚都会在不同的社家宅邸停留，并在早晚进行神事和神乐表演。

祭典的第四天，也就是申日，将举行“御前迎接”仪式。

祭典的最后一天，第七天，举行“田游”仪式，即神职人员模拟耕作过程，象征性地演绎农耕仪式，祈祷丰收。

田作祭是一场神圣的仪式，庆祝国龙神与妃神的婚礼，祭典中最具震撼力的是“火振神事”。
