【南阿蘇村】明神池名水公園

明神池は南阿蘇村のほぼ中央に位置する群塚神社境内にある湧水地で、広さ752㎡の池のいたるところから清水が噴き出しています。

湧水量は毎分約2トンで、その美しい景観はまさに絶景です。

水底までくっきり見えるほど透明度が高く、絵画のように神秘的な光景が広がっています。

この明神池は元々約5,070㎡の湖だったものの、昭和28年の大水害によって土壌が堆積し湿原となりました。

その後、平成2年に改修され、再び湖が形成されました。

池の周囲にはひしゃくなどが備えられ、地元の人々にとっては水汲みスポットとしても人気があります。

池の水は「誕生水」として知られ、飲むと安産に効果があると言われています。

この伝説には、天正年間に吉田城主が子宝を授かるためにこの水で身を清め、境内にある誕生石に願いをかけたという話が伝わっています。

また、産後の体調不良で乳が出ず困っていた奥方が、境内のイチョウの木に垂れ下がる気根を撫でてから回復し、乳の出も良くなったというエピソードもあります。

これ以来、婦人の信仰の場としても知られています。

また、明治10年の西南戦争では、会津藩家老佐川官兵衛がこの地で作戦会議を行い、この湧水で身を清め、群塚神社に必勝を祈願したという歴史的な事実も残っています。

明神池は「熊本名水百選」の1つにも選ばれており、その清らかな水と美しい風景は、多くの人々に親しまれています。

【Minami-Aso Village】Myoujin Pond Famous Water Park

Myoujin Pond is a spring water site located at the almost central part of Minami-Aso Village, within the grounds of Guntuka Shrine.

The 752-square-meter pond has spring water gushing from various points across its surface.

The spring water flow is about 2 tons per minute, and the beautiful scenery is truly breathtaking.

The water is so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom, creating a mysterious, almost painterly view.

Originally, Myoujin Pond was a lake of approximately 5,070 square meters, but due to a major flood in 1953 (Showa 28), soil accumulation turned it into a marshland.

Later, in 1990 (Heisei 2), the pond was restored and the lake was recreated.

Around the pond, there are water scoops and other facilities, and it has become a popular spot for local people to collect water.

The pond’s water is known as “Birth Water,” and it is said to be effective for a smooth delivery.

According to local legend, during the Tenshō era, the lord of Yoshida Castle purified himself with this water to pray for a child.

He also made a wish at the “birthstone” located within the shrine grounds.

Another legend tells of a woman recovering from postpartum health issues who, after touching the aerial roots of a ginkgo tree in the shrine grounds, experienced improved lactation.

Since then, the pond has been a site of faith for women, particularly those seeking blessings related to childbirth.

Additionally, during the Satsuma Rebellion of 1877 (Meiji 10), the Aizu samurai officer Sagawa Kanbee held a strategy meeting at this location, purified himself with the spring water, and prayed for victory at Guntuka Shrine.

This historical event is also part of the area’s legacy.

Myoujin Pond has been selected as one of the “One Hundred Famous Waters of Kumamoto,” and its pure water and beautiful landscape are cherished by many.

之后，于平成2年（1990年）进行了修复，恢复了湖泊的形态。

池塘周围配有取水用的木勺等设施，也成为了当地居民取水的热门地点。

池水被称为“诞生水”，据说对顺利分娩有益。

传说在天正年间，吉田城主曾用此水洁身以祈求得子，并在神社境内的“诞生石”上许愿。

还有一个传说，说一位妇女因产后体虚、奶水不足而苦恼，在摸了神社境内银杏树的气根后，身体恢复，奶水也变得充足。

从那时起，这里也成为了妇女的信仰圣地。
