【天草市】下田温泉

下田温泉は温泉の多い熊本の中でも国民保養温泉地に指定されています。

今から７００年ほど前、一羽の白鷺がこの地で傷を癒したことが起源となっています。

また、日本の夕陽百選にも選ばれた天草西海岸の天草灘に面し、東シナ海を一望できる絶好の夕陽鑑賞スポットとして知られています。

その他にも周辺には、五和町のイルカウォッチングや、世界文化遺産の﨑津集落の散策などができ、観光と合わせた滞在も人気のエリアです。

【Amakusa City】Shimoda Onsen

Shimoda Onsen, located in Kumamoto, an area known for its many hot springs, is designated as a National Health Resort.

The origin of this hot spring dates back about 700 years ago when a white egret is said to have healed its wounds in the area.

Shimoda Onsen is also famous for its stunning sunsets, facing the Amakusa Sea on the western coast of Amakusa, which has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Sunsets. It offers a perfect spot for sunset viewing with a panoramic view of the East China Sea.

In addition, the surrounding area offers various attractions, including dolphin watching in Gōwa Town and a stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sakitsu Village, making it a popular destination for combining sightseeing with a relaxing stay.
