【山都町】五老ヶ滝

山都町内に数ある滝の中で最大級の滝です。

かつて、阿蘇氏が朝廷の勅使に「ご覧に入れた滝」だったことから「ご覧の滝」・・・つまり「五老ヶ滝」と名付けられたと言われています。

滝の眺めは壮観で、遊歩道の上部にある展望所や、中ほどにかかる吊り橋からその美しさを楽しむことができます。

徒歩で気軽に行ける距離なので、ぜひ足を伸ばしてみてはいかがでしょうか。

【Yamato Town】Gorōgataki Waterfall

Among the many waterfalls in Yamato Town, this is one of the largest.

It is said that the name “Gorōgataki” originated from a time when the Aso clan presented this waterfall to the imperial envoy as a “viewing waterfall.”

The sight of the waterfall is magnificent, and you can enjoy the view from the observation point located above the walking path, as well as from the suspension bridge that spans the middle of the falls.

It is within easy walking distance, so why not take a little trip to see it?
